SIX Words to Change the World

I have been fortunate to meet several people who taught me about wisdom and in whose presence I traveled deeper and farther into the world of wonderment, beauty, grace and silence.

Huston Smith, Ph.D., is one such person and is, in my mind, a living saint, a man of prodigious knowledge and wisdom.

During his distinguished career as an author and professor of philosophy and religion, Dr. Smith managed to not only study, but practice Vedanta, Hinduism, Zen Buddhism and Sufism for over 10 years each. In 1996, Bill Moyers devoted a five-part PBS special to Smith’s life and work, The Wisdom of Faith with Huston Smith. (more…)

A Zen lesson from my 4-year-old great-niece

A ZEN LESSON FROM MY 4-YEAR-OLD GREAT-NIECE

Two weeks ago, I saw my great-niece at the birthday party for my 91 year-old aunt. Ev said she was Lava Girl, and proceeded to throw massive energy bolts at me all afternoon! Yesterday, I made a little video to send to her (care of her “nanny” Gina, my sister). I asked how Lava Girl was doing. I got back a video from her, saying, “Uncle Robert, you’re so silly. I’m not Lava Girl. Today, I’m Rapunzel.”

How could I have been so STUPID as to think she’d be the same person two days in a row?! Thank you, Ev, for this timely spiritual teaching.

Also, at the risk of being sexist, note to men: women change. Often. Without notice. Try to keep up.

New Facebook Page

With Pluto on my ascendant, what can we expect except constant reinvention! So, true to my nature, I will be deleting the following Facebook pages on March 1:

The 5 Principles of Authentic Living; Speaking Truthfully, Radical Sages, and Sound Bites from Silence.

I will begin posting exclusively on my BRAND NEW PAGE: so if you want to hang with me on Facebook, please hop over to the new Page and “like” it!

OMFG! I’m in Love! YES, I’M IN LOVE!

I have created the Speaking Truthfully Award to recognize and honor people who exemplify and embody Speaking Truthfully principles and practices.

There is impossible and there is IMPOSSIBLE. Me? In love? IMPOSSIBLE. No way! Head over heels in love, now, after everything that’s happened!? Who would have thought? Not me, that’s for sure. Those chapters had been written, and that was that. BUT IT HAS HAPPENED. I am madly, deliriously, out-of-control, top to bottom and inside out, take-me-to-bed-and-rock-my-soul-and-f*^k-me-till-I-scream-and-then-don’t-stop — in LOVE.

She’s super smart, sassy, brassy, edgy, gorgeous, fearless as a zombie apocalypse (I don’t know what that is but it sounds utterly fearless), brave as all get out, fierce, funny, hot — holy mother of god, I adore this woman. (more…)

Jane Green: My Purple Angel

I have been using the graphic design services of Jane Green for 10 years. Together, we have created I don’t remember how many websites! She’s also produced all my POD books and e-books (interior and covers). Business cards. Everything. And, I have referred as many family members, friends, colleagues, and clients as I could. Everyone — everyone — simply RAVES about her. She is the embodiment of “customer care” in that she has one, and only one, aim in all that she does: to utterly delight her clients.

This is what she greets you with on the home page of her website:

You want to work with someone who, from the first moment of the working relationship, is focused on you and what you want. Someone inspiring and creative, reliable, honest, capable and 100% committed to your fulfilment. I believe that you want someone who is there for you, providing a quality one-to-one engagement, as well as being responsive and timely. If this is true for you then you’ve come to the right place.

She lives in Melbourne, Australia, but she has clients all over the world. I recommend her with  my whole heart, as in wholehearted. She is the best. Period.
